Playing .ogg Files Directly from Safari
What is ogg vorbis? Ogg Vorbis is a new audio compression format. It is roughly comparable to other formats used to store and play digital music, such as MP3, VQF, AAC, and other digital audio formats. It is different from these other formats because it is completely free, open, and unpatented.
Now, the problem start when I try to open ogg files from a website with Safari Web Browser in Mac OSX 10.6.5. Safari won’t playing the audio that I clicked but it’ll download the ogg files to my Mac. Well, it was bothered because I just want to listen it.
So, I’ve googling and found a way to get an ogg files played directly in safari. It say that Safari need an QuickTime Component to play ogg files that wasn’t included in default installation. So, I’ve found a web that developing the component and it called by Xiph QuickTime Components. You can download it here.
